The Summer Reading Program is for all ages and 100% free to participate! For every 10 hours you read, read to someone else, or listen to someone read, you’ll receive a chance in the raffle. Record your reading hours and select the raffle prize you would like to have a chance to win.

The last day to record your reading hours and enter the prize raffle is Saturday, July 27. The raffle drawing will be held following the end of the program. Winners will be notified by a phone call.

Signing up is easy! Download a reading log and keep track of your reading hours at home. There are also reading logs available in Youth Services that you may take home.

After every 10 hours of reading, you’ll receive another entry for the raffle, so make sure you select which prize you would like to try to win. The last day to record your reading hours and enter the raffle is Saturday, July 27.

Prizes

Earn a chance to win a fantastic prize–just for reading! For every ten (10) hours that you read, are read to, or read to someone else, you’ll receive a chance in the raffle for an amazing prize. Raffle winners will be notified by a phone call following the end of the Summer Reading Program.

Weekly Family Movies and a Craft

Join us for free family movies and craft projects on Thursdays during the Summer Reading Program. Movies begin at 10:00 A.M. Kids 17 years old and younger who arrive by 10:15 A.M. will receive a chance to win the DVD! Light refreshments served.

On June 6 we will show Wish. Young Asha makes a wish so powerful that it’s answered by a cosmic force, a little ball of boundless energy called Star. With Star’s help, Asha must save her kingdom from King Magnifico and prove that when the will of one courageous human connects with the magic of the stars, wondrous things can happen. Rated PG. Runtime: 1 hour 42 minutes.

On June 13 we will show Up. Carl Fredricksen, a 78-year-old balloon salesman, is about to fulfill a lifelong dream. Tying thousands of balloons to his house, he flies away to the South American wilderness. But curmudgeonly Carl’s worst nightmare comes true when he discovers a little boy named Russell is a stowaway aboard the balloon-powered house. A Pixar animation. Rated PG. Runtime: 1 hour 36 minutes.

On June 20 we will show Under the Boardwalk. Two crabs embark on an epic journey to get home after a storm sweeps them away. Their courage soon unites their families, paving the way for great summers to come. Rated PG. Runtime: 1 hour 27 minutes.

On June 27 we will show Race to Witch Mountain. Jack Bruno (Dwayne Johnson), a Las Vegas taxi driver, is swept up in the adventure of a lifetime when he meets Sara (AnnaSophia Robb) and Seth (Alexander Ludwig), a pair of extraterrestrial youths who possess paranormal powers. In order to prevent an invasion of Earth, Jack must help the youths reach their spaceship, which is buried within Witch Mountain. But the task will not be easy, for government operatives and an alien bounty hunter are fast on their trail. Rated PG. Runtime: 1 hour 38 minutes.

On July 11 we will show The Sword in the Stone. This Disney adaptation of the classic fable chronicles King Arthur’s humble beginnings. As an orphaned child, Arthur, who was then known as Wart, wants to help his foster brother, Kay, succeed in becoming a knight. While helping Kay train, Wart stumbles upon a cabin belonging to Merlin, a bumbling but talented wizard. Merlin does his best to convince the boy that he is bound for greatness, and when Wart and Kay travel to London to attend a jousting contest, they learn that Merlin was right. Rated G. Runtime: 1 hour 19 minutes.

On July 18 we will show Labyrinth. Sixteen-year-old Sarah is given thirteen hours to solve a labyrinth and rescue her baby brother Toby when her wish for him to be taken away is granted by the Goblin King Jareth. Rated PG. Runtime: 1 hour 46 minutes.

On July 25 we will show Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse. After reuniting with Gwen Stacy, Brooklyn’s full-time, friendly neighborhood Spider-Man is catapulted across the Multiverse, where he encounters a team of Spider-People charged with protecting its very existence. However, when the heroes clash on how to handle a new threat, Miles finds himself pitted against the other Spiders. He must soon redefine what it means to be a hero so he can save the people he loves most. Rated PG. Runtime: 2 hours 20 minutes.

Join us for a free film every Thursday at 10:00 am during the Summer Reading Program.

On August 1 we will show The Goonies, an old-fashioned yarn about a band of adventurous kids who take on the might of a property developing company which plans to destroy their home to build a country club. When the children discover an old pirate map in the attic, they follow it into an underground cavern in search of lost treasure but come up against plenty of dangerous obstacles along the way. Rated PG. For teens through 18 years old. Runtime: 1 hour 54 minutes.
