2019 Summer Reading Program: A Universe of Stories

Blast off to a universe of stories with the Summer Reading Program! This all-ages program is a great way to earn prizes just for reading.

Starting Monday, June 10, everyone is encouraged to begin reading and recording the number of hours spent reading. Watch as the hours build and your chances to win prizes increase. The last day to record your reading hours and pick up prizes is Saturday, August 3, 2019.

There are special family events on Thursday mornings at 10:00 am beginning June 20.

Join us for Story Time on Wednesdays at 10:00 am between June 12 – July 17. The Story Time Crew will share stories, songs, activities, and crafts with the children. For ages birth through 5 years along with an adult.

Prize Levels

Children:
For the first 15 hours of reading recorded, each child will receive a book, a raffle ticket to enter for the prize of their choice, and a certificate.

For each additional 15 hours of reading, children can choose between either a “prize box” item OR a raffle ticket.

Teens:
For the first 15 hours of reading recorded, each teen will receive a book, a raffle ticket to enter for the prize of their choice, and a certificate.

For each additional 15 hours of reading, teens can choose between a “prize box” item OR a raffle ticket.

Adults:
For the first 30 hours of reading recorded, each adult will receive a book, a raffle ticket to enter for the prize of their choice, and a certificate. For each additional 30 hours of reading, adults will get a raffle ticket.

Enjoy stories, songs, activities, crafts and more with the Story Time Crew! Please arrive a few minutes early to receive your child’s name tag. This program is for children ages birth through 5 years, accompanied by an adult.

Make a paper rocket and watch it soar from a launchpad made with PVC pipe and a two-liter plastic bottle! Everyone is encouraged to bring an empty two-liter plastic bottle for launch; however, we will have supplies available. This program is fun for the whole family.

Monday, July 15, 3:00 PM

Join STARnet for a Live Webcast Event to celebrate NASA’s 50th Anniversary of Apollo 11’s Historic Moon Landing! What was the sequence of this incredible mission? Where on the Moon did they land? And how did they return safely to Earth? The library will host the showing of a guided recreation of Apollo 11’s journey to see how this mission was executed by crew members and mission control in Houston.
