MC Businesses and the People Who Made Them Prosper

November 13 @ 2:00 pm

MC Businesses book cover

Gloria D. Arndt and Dorothy Germain Palmer will present an explanation and an expansion of how MC went from sand dunes to a bustling metropolis. Their book, Michigan City Businesses and the People Who Made Them Prosper, 1832-1890 was 3 years in the making. The period covers the New England pioneers who came looking for work and making their fortunes to the Germans, Irish, Polish, Lebanese, and others who, bravely, brought their trades and professions to this new land. The book includes not just the major businesses, but the small, family-owned businesses that helped the city strive. With an index of several thousand names, many of your ancestors are included.
