The collection includes popular fiction, non-fiction, and children’s eBooks and eAudiobooks. Patrons need a current Michigan City library card and PIN.

Getting Started with the Mobile App

INSTALL – If you’re using a mobile device, install the free Axis 360 app by visiting the Apple App Store, Google Play Store (Android devices), or Amazon App Store (Kindle Fire).

LOGIN – Tap the Axis 360 icon to open it. Under “Library Name”, search for “Michigan City”, then tap on “Michigan City Public Library.” Enter your library card number and PIN and then click “Login”. Don’t know your PIN? Call the Circulation desk at 219-873-3062 or stop by the Circulation desk.

CHECKOUT AND READ – Tap the cover of the book or audiobook you want to check out. Tap “Checkout” and tap again to confirm. The book/audiobook will download and open automatically. Swipe your finger to the left to start reading! Tap the middle of any page to bring up reading menu options.

RENEW OR RETURN – Checked-out items will automatically return at the end of the loan period. If you want to renew your item, tap the Renew button. If no one else has placed a hold on your title, you can renew your eBook or eAudiobook for an additional two weeks. If you wish to return an item early, go to your Checked Out titles, tap the title you want to return, and click “Return.”

Read and Listen Now in Browser

If you’re using a PC, Mac, Chromebook, or even a mobile device running Safari or any other major web browser, you can read eBooks and listen to eAudiobooks right in your browser!

  • Go to the library’s Axis 360 page at https://mclib.axis360.baker-taylor.com/. read now button
  • Click on “login” in the upper right corner.
  • Check out a title or click on “Checkouts” to find titles you’ve already checked out.
  • Click on the “Read Now” or “Listen Now” button.

Your browser must allow pop-ups in order to read the eBook in the browser. If your eBook is not opening, check in your browser’s options menu to make sure pop-ups are enabled.

Circulation Policies

Maximum lending period: 14 days (can be renewed for an additional 14 days if no other patrons have placed a hold on the item)

Maximum concurrent checkouts allowed: 5 eBooks and 5 eAudiobooks

Maximum number of holds a patron may have at one time: 5

Number of days allowed for patron response to hold notification: 3
