The Michigan City Public Library and the city of Michigan City are celebrating Literacy!
Mayor Chuck Oberlie read the city's proclamation of Literacy Month, September 2003.
The Learning Center at the Michigan City Public Library needs reading and math tutors for adults and children. Training to tutor children in reading will be presented September 3 and 4 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. by Marilyn Sirugo, literacy supervisor, in the Meeting Room of the library. Training to tutor adults will be September 9 and 10 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. in the Meeting Room. Attendance both days in necessary to complete each training. Math tutors do not need to attend a training session. To preregister or for information about future trainings, call the literacy supervisor at 873-3043.
