William Hazelgrove

Madam President: The Secret Presidency of Edith Wilson by William Hazelgrove is a vivid, engaging portrait of the woman who became the acting President of the United States in 1919, months before women officially won the right to vote. Hazelgrove returns to the library to speak during National Women’s History Month about the mostly unknown story of the woman who stepped in when her husband was incapacitated by a stroke and handled the day-to-day responsibilities of the Executive office. The book is a Literary Guild selection and a selection of the History Book Club, Military Book Club, and Conservative Book Club. The movie rights have been optioned by Storyline Entertainment.
