Donated Items

The Library both seeks and welcomes donations of funds for the purchase of books or other materials and will hold such monies in the Library Gift Fund until using them for the general purchase of Library materials.   If the donor wishes the purchase of specific titles or subject areas, the Library will determine if such requests conform to the collection as a whole, using the guidelines and criteria stated in the Collection Development Policy.   All books purchased with gift funds contain a gift plate with the name of the donor.

The Library accepts books, magazines, and other potential Library materials, with the understanding that the Library always determines final dispositions of the items donated.

Materials that patrons wish to donate for consideration for the collection are first reviewed by staff.  If it is decided that the item meets the criteria for the subject according to our collection development policy, it may be added to our collection. If it is not added to the collection, it will be given to the Friends of the Library for their on-going book sale.  If someone gives us materials they wish to be considered for our collection, it is with the understanding that they are donating the materials to us and we reserve the right to add or not add the material.

If the donor wishes to receive written acknowledgement for income tax purposes, the Library will provide a donor card for the donor to fill out at the time of acceptance.  Donor cards are available at the circulation desk.
