The Genealogy Department can request federal census records, military records, ship passenger lists and local records through HeritageQuest, formerly the American Genealogical Lending Library (AGLL).

The current rental fee is $3.25 per microfilm roll (10 or more in one order is $2.75 each),  plus shipping and handling charge of $3.00 per order. Payment is due at the time of ordering.  The film loan period is for one full month, and the film must be used in the Library.

The Indiana State Library lends microfilm reels of Indiana Newspapers,  including Michigan City newspapers, to libraries across the country. Contact their Interlibrary Loan Department.
